My priority is to ensure that you have a positive and supportive experience in therapy where you can feel safe enough to explore some of the more challenging places. While there can be a lot of benefit in working out the edges that may feel uncomfortable in a therapeutic relationship, it is also important to feel things out and see if the therapist can work with what you are bringing in, and if they feel like a good fit for you to work with.
